S4HE Associate - David Ferguson, Ph.D.
David Ferguson is a nationally known leader and is currently Provost’s Scholar for Diversity and Innovation at Stony Brook University. He has served as chair of the Department of Technology and Society, and Associate Provost for Diversity and Inclusion. He is the recipient of several awards including the U.S. Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM), the Archie Lacey Award of the New York Academy of Sciences, and the Engineering Educator Award of the Joint Committee on Engineering of Long Island. In addition to the individual PAESMEM award, he shared in a second PAESMEM award that was presented to the New York State Science and Technology Entry Programs (STEP for schools, and Collegiate STEP).
David is a frequent reviewer for the National Science Foundation (NSF), and other agencies on matters of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education, applications of advanced technologies, and decision making in socio-technological and global contexts as well as his work on diversity and inclusion. Currently, Dr. Ferguson helps schools, colleges/universities, industries, and government on projects related to professional staff development especially in the STEAM fields.
